How to Get US Clients from India

The US is the world's largest market for expert services, and American buyers are used to paying for outcomes. For Indian experts, that's a huge opportunity, but only if you show up the way US buyers expect.

Here's how to approach the US market step by step.

Understand what US buyers expect

  • Clarity: a specific promise ("we book 15 qualified sales calls a month for B2B SaaS founders") beats a vague list of services.
  • Proof: case studies, testimonials and numbers. Results speak louder than credentials.
  • Professionalism: fast replies, clear proposals, simple contracts and reliable communication across time zones.
  • Value-based pricing: US buyers compare you with US providers. Underpricing can make you look less credible, not more attractive.

Pick a niche the US already pays for

Look for US industries that buy what you sell and are comfortable with remote providers: SaaS, e-commerce, coaching and consulting, healthcare practices, real estate, professional services and agencies. Choose one, and build your positioning, proof and outreach around it.

Price in dollars, based on value

Set your price against the value you create and what comparable US providers charge, not against Indian market rates. Offer clear packages (for example, a 90-day engagement with defined outcomes) instead of hourly rates. Being clearly positioned at a fair US price usually converts better than being "the cheap option."

Where to find US clients

  • LinkedIn: search by job title, industry and US location; share content that solves their problems; start genuine conversations.
  • Targeted ads: run ads to a US-specific landing page, guide or webinar. Geo-targeting lets you reach only the buyers you want.
  • Partnerships: partner with US agencies or consultants who need delivery capacity.
  • Marketplaces (with caution): platforms can help early on, but build your own pipeline so you aren't competing on price forever.

Make time zones work for you

Offer a few fixed call slots that overlap with US mornings (your late evening) and be clear about response times. For many service businesses, working while your US client sleeps becomes a selling point: work moves forward overnight.

Getting paid from the US

Use international invoicing with a payment gateway or bank transfer, agree on payment terms up front, and take a deposit or first-month payment before starting. Keep contracts simple: scope, timeline, deliverables, payment terms.

The system behind it

Everything above is part of the six-step ICA Framework: clarity and positioning, strategy, lead generation, conversion, nurturing and scale. If you want to see how it applies to your business, join the next ICA Webinar.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Indian individuals and businesses routinely provide services to US clients and receive payment in dollars. Speak to your accountant about invoicing and tax compliance for export of services.

LinkedIn usually works best for B2B services with a clear niche; ads work well when you have a strong offer and a landing page or webinar. Many businesses use both.

Price based on the value of the outcome and what comparable US providers charge. Packaged, outcome-based pricing usually works better than hourly rates.
